PURPOSE: To provide recognition to talented young musicians and an opportunity to perform in a concert in New York called “Young Talents” which is part of Forte 90 Inc. Programs and supported by Johnson String Instrument, BV Artists International, Conservatory of Music and Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College, CUNY, BYMP Brooklyn Youth Music Project, St. Paul's Church. The winners will be awarded monetary prizes up to $2000 (based on age categories).
 
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be Brooklyn residents, 18 years of age (last year in high school) or younger at the time of the competition. (College students are not accepted). Money prizes will be awarded based on age categories. There are three age categories:

Elementary school students
Middle school students
High School students
 
REPERTOIRE: One Classical selection such as standard concerto, sonata (any movement) or any other solo work no longer than 10min. The piece must be memorized. Please send us a copy of the music to be performed (in PDF format) to: kivanovusa@yahoo.comThe file should clearly indicate the name of the composition, composer's name, and the name of the applicant.
 
FIRST ROUND: DVD Audition (Received before May 10, 2013 with a completed application and application fee of $50)
 
RECORDING: The DVD should be recorded in high audio quality and may not be edited.
 
SECOND ROUND: LIVE Audition. Finalists will audition live on Sunday, June 2nd, 2013 at 10am at Brooklyn College Conservatory, CUNY.
 
WINNERS CONCERT: Sunday, June 30 at 2pm at St. Paul's Church, 199 Carroll Street, Brooklyn, NY
 
ACCOMPANIST: contestants must bring their own accompanists for the LIVE Audition and in the concert of the winners.   

INSTRUMENTS: Violin, Viola, Cello.
 
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:  DVD’s must be submitted to Kalin Ivanov, Chair Brooklyn String Competition, 4715 Fort Hamilton Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11219 by May 10, 2013.
 
DEADLINE: Application, application fee of $50, and DVD must be received by Kalin Ivanov, Chair, Brooklyn String Competition, 4715 Fort Hamilton Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11219 by May 10, 2013.

APPLICATION FEE:  $50 (nonrefundable) before the deadline. $100 fee (non-refundable) after the deadline. We accept checks or money orders. Please make checks/money orders payable to Forte 90 Inc.
